Hailing from Daly City, Filipino American hip hop artist/producer, Mikey Vee, is the newest member of the Musiq Production team. Prior to this, he had completed a stint with Fil-Am rap group, Doyen, worked in the tech industry as a Mechanical Engineer/technician, started his own community collective, Golden Oras, and had been featured on TFC. With influences from artists like Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Smino, and JID, Chance the Rapper, and Childish Gambino, Mikey differentiates himself from the typical Bay Area sound while simultaneously paying homage to his roots. Recently coming off of the release of his debut album, REM, Mikey is already working on his sophomore project with the help of Musiq Production. With unique wordplay, impactful lyrics, catchy hooks, and versatility, Mikey promises to solidify himself as a limitless talent with undeniable mastery of his craft.

REM, short for “Realest Expression of Myself” is the title of my new, debut album based on the works of the 17th Century painter, Rembrandt. Considered a soundtrack to the human experience, REM draws from the emotion and historical/religious themes of 16 paintings from Rembrandt’s collection, transforming them into modern hip hop songs bathed in Baroque symbolism.
MIKEY puts his own spin on 3 classic rnb tracks just in time for Valentine’s day. This one is for the lovers out there!
