Danny Westside was born in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Macon, Georgia in 1985. He is the youngest of two children to Andrea and the late Daniel Sr. Danny grasped his musical talents early, participating in children's church choirs and school concert band as a percussionist. He performed as a drummer in both his high school and college marching bands. During high school, Danny began making his own beats after he came across a few young rappers who asked him to join their group, The Lost Click. The group only recorded one track (which Danny produced) then disbanded prior to Danny and a few other members graduating. In college, he continued working on beats, never garnering a record or production deal. His focus on graduating made it hard to focus on the music end of his life. After earning his Bachelor's Degree, Danny continued making beats, this time for himself. He recorded what became Backpack Music in his bedroom and released it via Bandcamp in the fall of 2010. He began to get traction in Savannah, GA with the release--he performed tracks from the album at the annual Savannah Urban Arts Festival on two different dates and received radio spins on local stations 94.1 The Beat and E93 (93.1 FM). In 2011, he relocated to Charlotte, NC and released The Complex, a concept album that he recorded in Savannah based on the very anxiety and depression that he experienced the previous year. In 2013, he returned to the studio to record savannatlantamacon, an album that saw Danny create more sample-heavy beats. Now, as a full-time producer no longer emceeing, Danny is using 2024 to collaborate with both rappers and singers to create. Stay tuned!
